Oggi, grazie alla Finishpedia, andiamo a scoprire il mondo dei topper. Ovviamente non stiamo parlando di un finish vero e proprio, ma di top coat che possono dare effetti diversi allo smalto di base. Insomma, nascono per il layering e ce ne sono di moltissimi tipi: mattificanti, olografici, glitter, duochrome e via discorrendo.
Io, che sono sempre attenta ad abbinare la manicure alla stagione in corso, oggi ho deciso di tirarne fuori uno... Natalizio. Embé!
Dopo aver steso come base il Lady Nail LN208, ho infatti applicato due mani dell'Essence Snowflake Topper Season's Greetings! della TE Happy Holidays!
Si tratta di un topper con base trasparente e micro glitter holo e glitter esagonali più grandi e di un bianco vagamente perlescente. Sulla carta è figherrimo, ma una volta usato ha dimostrato qualche piccola falla: innanzitutto tende a sciogliere lo smalto sottostante (e dire che tra lui e il Lady Nail c'era una bella mano di Sèche Vite!) e quindi si rischia di ritrovarsi col pennello sporco. I glitter, poi, sono stracarini, ma sono un po' sparuti! Infine, i glitter bianchi tendono ad andare sul fondo, quindi è caldamente consigliabile tenerlo a testa in giù per 10 minuti prima di applicarlo.
Insomma: idea favolosa, risultati medi. Ma sappiamo tutte quanto siano economici i prodotti Essence, quindi si tende a perdonare più facilmente i difetti.

Today, thanks to our Finishpedia, we talk about toppers. Of course, we are not talking about a real finish, but about top coats that can give different effects to the nail polish you use as a base. That means that they're born for layering purposes and they come in a big variety of types: mattifying, holographic, duochrome, glitter, etc.
For today's post I picked a topper from a Christmas Theme Edition by Essence. I know, I know, it's May, not December: but if you're a follower of my blog you know that I don't mind wearing something that it's out of season.
The base color here is Lady Nail LN208 and I applied over it two coats of Essence Snowflake Topper Season's Greetings! della TE Happy Holidays!
This is a topper with a clear base with holographic microglitters and bigger and white glitters with a hex shape. In the bottle it's really super cool, but on the nails... Let's say that it has some flaws!
First-of-all, it tends to melt the polish underneath, even if I used Sèche Vite between the Lady Nail and the Essence topper. Secondly, its glitters are super cute, but the glitter payoff is really poor and you have to "fish out" the white glitters. Shake the bottle before application is not enough, so I'd suggest to let the bottle upside down for ten minutes before applying the polish.
In short: fabulous idea but mediocre results. We all know that Essence products are very cheap, so forgive their flaws is easier than with more expensive products.
