Puntata #20 della Finishpedia, dedicata ai termici.
Signore mie, diciamocelo: io sono la schiava dei termici! Li amo, adoro, venero, sono peggio di una droga. Termici, venite a meeeee!
Specifiche tecniche: i termici sono quegli smalti che mutano colore a seconda della temperatura. Generalmente, sono più chiari in fase calda e più scuri in fase fredda. Possono avere diversi tipi di finish: olografico, creme, satinato, eccetera.
Purtroppo, hanno una durata di vita limitata: dopo circa un anno "scadono" e si fissano, di solito nel colore corrispondente alla fase fredda. Se volete sapere perché ciò accade e come rallentare questo processo, vi invito a leggere il post che Mr. Pee ha scritto per voi.
Io ho deciso di giocarmi un acquisto del viaggio di nozze, l'Island Girl Color Changing Polish (nessun nome o numero di riferimento). Island Girl è un marchio distributo in esclusiva dalla catena ABC Stores, che ha negozi fisici a Las Vegas, alle Hawaii, a Guam e Saipam (dietro l'angolo, insomma). Il bel ragazzo che vedete in foto passa da blu definitivo (fase fredda) ad azzurro ceruleo (fase calda). Ha un finish satinato (anche se è evidente che io ho applicato un top coat per le mie foto) e la sua formula ne rispecchia le caratteristiche: corposa, da stendere in velocità, asciugatura rapidissima. Se siete brave e precise è coprente in una sola mano. L'ho indossato solo ieri quindi non saprei ancora esprimermi sulla durata.
Lo trovo strafigo, anche se meno sensibile ai cambi di temperatura di altri termici che ho trovato. Ma questo potrebbe dipendere dal freddo maiale che c'è oggi, o dal fatto che ha subito un certo shock durante il volo aereo di ritorno (tant'è che mi sono ritrovata un bel po' di prodotto incrostato in ogni dove, essendo fuoriuscito a tradimento).
Ciononostante, confermo la diagnosi: è favoloso, punto!

I want to be honest with you: I'm a sucker for thermals! I'm their slave. I love, adore, venerate them.
Some technical notes: thermals are polishes that change their colour depending on temperature shifts. They're usually lighter in warm conditions and darker in cold conditions. They can show different finishes: holographic, creme, satin, etc.
Unfortunately, they have a short life: after one year or so, they expire! This means that you won't see a color change anymore, and you're stuck with the colder color. If you want to know how thermals work and why they expire, you can read this post that Mr. Pee wrote for you.
The nail polish that I picked to represent thermals comes directly from my honeymoon haul. I'm talking about Island Girl Color Changing Polish (no name, no reference number, sgrunt!). Island Girl is a brand which is sold exclusively by ABC Stores, that has physical store in Las Vegas, Hawaii, Guam and Saipam. The beautiful guy you see in this post changes from intense blue (cold) to cerulean blue (warm). It dries with a satin finish, even if I clearly used a top coat for my pictures, and its formula has all the characteristics of satins: thick, very quick drying and very pigmented too (I used one coat only here). I applied it yesterday so I still have no idea about its longevity.
I think it's seriously super cool, even if it's less sensitive to temperature shifts than other thermals I've tried. I don't know if this depends on today's super cold temperature or on the fact it suffered of a sort of shock during the return flight (a bit of product poured out the bottle, I suppose it was the pressurization).
But I can assure I still love it!
