Pee Before Polish

Ciao ragazze!
Qualche sera fa avevo voglia di pincionare con lo stamping, e m'è venuto in mente di non aver mai provato a creare gli stickers con lo stamping. Questa tecnica consente anche di colorare i particolari che desideriamo del nostro pattern.
Insomma, mi sono armata della plate Born Pretty Store BP-07 e di smalti olografici e ho creato questi stickers che ho poi applicato sullo smalto che già indossavo, l'Essence Prismatic White. Gli smalti holo usati sono stati i miei amatissimi Jade (Mystic Gold, Mirage e Vermelho Surreal) e il Layla Mercury Twilight.
Ovviamente quando vi serve il sole, questo non esce manco a pagarlo (o meglio, esce ma davvero debole) ma... Spero vi piaccia comunque perché a me ha fatto impazzire!
Solo una precisazione: come Simona di Light Your Nails mi aveva anticipato, questo pattern meraviglioso ha qualche magagna, non si trasferisce perfettamente né sullo stamper né tantomeno su unghia. Sono i dettagli più sottili, come quelli della farfalla più grande (per intenderci: quella che si vede bene solo su anulare e medio) che purtroppo si "perdono" un po'. Peccato... Ma mi è comunque piaciuto parecchio.

A few days ago I wanted to play a bit with my stamping plates, and I realized that I've never created stickers with stamping technique. This technique allows you to colour some parts of the pattern you're using, and this is absolutely amazing!
In short, I picked my brand new Born Pretty Store BP-07 plate and my beloved holographic nail polishes and I created these stickers that I then applied over the nail polish I already wore, that's Essence Prismatic White. In particular I used Jade Mystic Gold, Mirage and Vermelho Surreal and Layla Mercury Twilight.
Obviuosly, when you need sun to capture a manicure in all its beauty, the sun disappears for days and days (or, to better say, it's too weak)... But I really hope you like even how it looks in overcast conditions!
Just a note about this plate: Simona from Light Your Nails already told me that this pattern doesn't transfer properly on the nails. She was right. The smallest details, expecially on the bigger butterfly (the one you see in my middle and ring fingers only), doesn't transfer perfectly on the stamper or on the nails. That's a pity, but I still like it a lot!

Oggi è venerdì e quindi si finishpedia tutte insieme! Terzo appuntamento col frost, che è un po'~~un finish del menga~~, ops scusate, volevo dire che è un finish un po' desueto al pari del pearl. I due hanno in comune anche altre caratteristiche, come lo shimmer extrafine e i segni delle pennellate. Al frost, però, manco i riflessi madreperlati del pearl vero e proprio.
Per rappresentarlo ho scelto uno dei primissimi smalti mai acquistati, il britannico Models Own Blue Med. Siccome sapete che sono sincera come una fogna a cielo aperto (oggi la finezza e l'eleganza imperano in questi ameni lidi), vi dico chiaramente che, ora come ora, questo smalto non lo comprerei mai. A parte che è riempito a bomba di formaldeide e toluene (ma Models Own ha da parecchio eliminato queste componenti dannose dai suoi prodotti), poi non è decisamente un granché: un azzurro frost stracolmo di segni di pennellate che per fortuna si affievoliscono dopo una generosa passata di top coat.
Nelle foto potete vedere il risultato di tre passate, e un'ombra di linea dell'unghia è ancora visibile. Si fa perdonare con una buona applicazione, discreti tempi di asciugatura e un'ottima durata, per lo meno. Ma, ripeto, non è di certo tra i miei preferiti. Almeno è stato il perfetto esempio di frost!
Daje che piano piano ci avviciniamo a finish a me più congeniali!

Thanks Odin it's friday and you know that on Friday we have a new appointment with our Finishpedia! Today's finish is frost which, honestly, I really don't like! Like pearled, frost is an "old" finish that we rarely find in nowadays nail polish collections.
It has more in common with pearled, because it has the same extrafine shimmer and the same visible brustrokes. The main difference is that frost doesn't show any pearly sheen.
To represent frost, I picked one of my very first nail polish ever, that's Blue Med by Models Own. To be honest, I don't recommend this nail polish and, at this moment, I would never buy it.
It contains dangerous ingredients like formaldehyde and toluene (but I know that Models Own reformulated their nail polish line a couple of years ago so they're Big3Free now) and the colour is nothing special, a light blue with extrafine shimmer and a lot of brushstrokes that a good top coat partially fixes.
Blue Med, moreover, it's quite sheer, I used three coats for my pics and nail line is still a bit visible. Luckily, application is fast and easy, it dries quite fast and has a good longevity. Phew.
Again, it's not one of my favourite polish but, at least, it is a good example of frost finish!

Ormai da parecchio non vi mostravo un rossetto, il che è parecchio strano considerando anche il pieno che ho fatto durante la mia luna di miele, quindi mi è sembrato il caso di rimediare proprio con un acquisto americano, ovvero il Milani Sangria.
Milani è un brand economico che negli US trovate un po' ovunque, e il Sangria è uno dei suoi colori più conosciuti perché accreditato come il dupe del MAC Rebel. Che io ho, ma per la comparison ci sentiremo più avanti, perché il Rebel devo ancora testarlo in modo più approfondito.
Sicuramente ci siamo col colore, che è semplicemente pazzesco: un viola a fortissima componente fucsia, che cambia tantissimo da persona a persona a seconda della pigmentazione delle labbra. Se confrontate lo swatch sul mio braccio e quello sulle mie labbra, sembra che non stiamo nemmeno parlando dello stesso rossetto.
Sangria ha un finish matte e una formulazione bella cremosa che non va a seccare le labbra, ma applicarlo è un casino. Si stende in modo disomogeneo, completamente a chiazze, e tende anche a svanire in questa maniera spot. L'unico modo di avere un risultato accettabile? Avere delle labbra perfettamente e molto recentemente scrubbate, e ovviamente idratatissime. Ma non troppo! Io consiglio di applicare un ottimo burro di cacao (o lip primer), aspettare una decina di minuti, tamponare con attenzione, e poi applicare Sangria.
Decisamente impegnativo, eh? Anche un po' troppo per i miei gusti. Per fortuna, una volta seguite queste accortezze, Sangria si fisserà per ore, ore ed ore alle vostre labbra. E' praticamente resistente a tutto e assai di rado ho incontrato una tale durata coniugata ad una buona idratazione.
Piccola nota: il particolarissimo odore di cocomero, un po' sintetico, che o si ama o si odia. A me non dispiace affatto. E anche per oggi è tutto, vi abbraccio e... A presto!

I haven't written a review about a lipstick since months, which is quite odd because you know that I'm a lipstick addict and I bought a ton of this product during my honeymoon. So I decided to pick Milani Sangria, that I bought just during my honeymoon.
Milani is a cheap brand that you can find almost everywhere in the US, and Sangria is one of its most famous shade because it's considered one of the best MAC Rebel's dupe. I own Rebel but I still have to test it in a proper way, so I'll published a comparison in the future.
For the moment I can say that the colour is reeeeeally similar for sure: Sangria is a gorgeous, beautiful, amazing intense purple/fuchsia with a matte finish. This colour changes a lot from person to person, depending on the personal pigmentation of the lips. Do you see the colour difference of the swatch I did on my arm and the one with the lipstick on my lips? I think they give you a good idea of how it can change.
Sangria has a creamy formula and it doesn't dry the lips at all, but it's very difficult to apply. It applies unevenly, patchy and streaky. After a lot of tries, I can say that the only way to have an even application is: scrub and exfoliate the lips, apply a good lip balm (or lip primer), wait around 10 minutes, dab gently your lips with a hanky and THEN apply Milani Sangria.
Quite hardworking, don't you think?! Too much hardworking, at least for my tastes. Luckily, once you apply Sangria on your lips, it lasts for hours, hours and hours. I can't believe at the longevity of this lipstick, it's a sort of Highlander! And it doesn't dry the lips!
Just a last, small note: it has a nice smell of watermelon!

Rieccomi con uno smalto che ha bisogno davvero di poche parole, il Mi-Ny Magic Berries, proveniente dalla linea Sugar Chic, dedicata al finish sabbiato.
Magic Berries è un bel viola dal finish, per l'appunto, textured, arricchito da microglitter e glitter più grandi tono su tono. Coprente in due passate facili facili, asciuga abbastanza in fretta e ha un'ottima durata.
Et voilà, ho finito! Anzi, no: aggiungerei che dal vivo è moooolto più bello, è davvero luminosissimo!
E' il terzo smalto Mi-Ny che provo e mi son piaciuti tutti, son felice di aver dato fiducia a quest'azienda ed essermene accaparrata diversi.
Ok, passo e chiudo, stavolta sul serio!

Here I am again with a nail polish that I really love, that's Mi-Ny Magic Berries. Mi-Ny is an Italian brand (the name stays for Milan-New York) which is quite young, but it already has some stores outside its home country (like Norway, Romania or Ukraine). I'm lucky enough to have our of their (rare) physical stores here in my city and I bought several nail polishes from their lacquer line. And I'm super happy that I decided to give them a chance because I'm loving them!
Magic Berries belongs to Sugar Chic line, which is dedicated to textured finish. It's a beautiful purple with microglitters and bigger glitter particles. Two easy coats for the perfect coverage, it dries quite fast and has an amazing longevity.
What else? IRL Magic Berries looks even better, it's so sparkly and bright!

GOMBLODDOOOOOH!
Sissignore, quella che vi sto per raccontare è la storia di un vero e proprio attentato al mio percorso finishpediesco. Uno strano allineamento dei pianeti mi ha portata ad indossare, per il metallic, una serie di smalti che sì, sulla carta erano metallic, ma una volta stesi non lo erano manco per niente.
Prova che ti riprova, incazzati che ti rincazzi, mi sono ritrovata oggi senz'altre cartucce da sparare se no... Riciclare un vecchio post! Vabbuò, è abbastanza vecchio, magari qualcuna di voi se l'era perso e non mi beccherà troppi insulti.
In ogni caso, venendo al sodo, il finish odierno è il metallic, ulteriore evoluzione del frost con una tendenza al cromato: il metallic mostra, infatti, i segni delle pennellate del frost, sempre con quello shimmer ultrafine, ma con una certa lucentezza del colore, uno sfiorare l'effetto specchiato che ricorda anche un po' il cromato.
Non credete che il vecchio ma buono Stargazer Chrome #237 ne sia un esempio perfetto? Non mi starò a dilungare con la recensione, se ne volete sapere di più e vedere altre foto cliccate qui!
E ora scappo a mangiare, sono a digiuno da 24 ore e sto sclerando!

Yes ladies, I was victim of a plot for this new appointment of Finishpedia! Today's theme is metallic and, in the last days, I wore a series of nail polishes that, in theory, should be perfect examples of metallic but, once I applied them on my nails, revealed another finish!
Try after try, disappointment after disappointment... It's Friday and I have no metallic nail polish to show you! So I had to skip on my Plan B... Showing a metallic nail polish I already swatched and reviewed in the past! Luckily, it's quite an old post, maybe it's a news for some of you!
Anyway, metallic: metallic is another evolution of frost, but with a touch of chrome. Metallics, in fact, show the same brushstrokes of frost, the same ultrafine shimmer, but they also have an almost mirror aspect, like chromes.
I think that Stargazer #237 is a perfect example of metallic, don't you agree? I won't add more details about this nail polish, if you'd like to see more pics and read my review you can click here.
Dinner time now, I haven't eaten for 24 hours and I'm starving!

E finalmente siamo a febbraio! La primavera si avvicina e l'ora del tramonto si allontana sempre di più. Meno male! Comunque, iniziamo questo mese coi prodotti finiti di gennaio. Onestamente pensavo fossero di più, ma ci accontentiamo...

Della serie "Sì, ancora loro!": Essence Nail Polish Remover Ultra e Ultra Dolce Shampoo al latte vegetale idratante;
Dove deodorante Original Clean: preso in US in seguito all'esplosione causa pressurizzazione del deo che mi ero portata dietro; confezione da millemila kg (perché si sa che everything is bigger in the US!), un prodotto certamente efficace con un odore leggero, per fortuna, perché molto "plasticoso";
Compagnie de Provence Crème pour les mains Extra Pure Pamplemousse: questa crema bio l'ho odiata dalla prima applicazione. Odora sì di pompelmo, ma di pompelmo andato a male. Molto liquida, ma ci mette comunque un po' ad assorbirsi. Mediamente idratante. Aggiungeteci che l'ho pagata una fucilata, e capirete bene perché non la riacquisterò mai più;
Shaka SOS maschera purificante: mi è piaciuta tanto da averla messa nei prodotti preferiti del 2014; ho un sacco di altre maschere da smaltire, ma appena ne terminerò un po', questa la andrò a riacquistare di certo;
Montagne Jeunesse Passion peel off mask: finalmente una maschera di questo brand che mi è piaciuta un sacco! Estremamente purificante e opacizzante e con un odore di melograno davvero divino. La sconsiglio, però, a chi ha pelle secca o molto sensibile perché "asciuga" parecchio. Anche questa finisce nella lista delle cose da ricomprare;
I campioncini: Bjobj Crema Viso anti-age all'acido ialuronico: mi ha fatto una discreta impressione, liquida e di facile assorbimento ma con un odore di petrolio pazzesco! Ironico per una crema ecobio. Dr. Taffi Acqua di Bolgheri Oro: ottimo profumo, femminile ma fresco, mediamente persistente. Alkemilla Shadow: assolutamente no, troppo dolce per i miei gusti, di scarsa persistenza.

E anche per questo mese abbiamo finito!

January's over and I'm super happy because this means that Spring is nearer. I hate Winter and I'm always a bit depressed during cold months. Anyway, it's time to show you my January empties. I thought I finished more products, but that's okay... Let's see them!

Oh yes, them again! Essence Nail Polish Remover Ultra and Garnier Ultra Dolce Hydrating Shampoo;
Dove deodorant Original Clean: I bought it in US because the deodorant I carried with me "exploded" during the flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco; the box and the quantity of product it contains is HUGE compared to Italian sizes (but we all know that everything is bigger in the US!); anyway, this product has a good quality, it really protects your armpits from bad smells all day long, even if I don't like its smell, quite neutral but with a touch of synthetic;
Compagnie de Provence Crème pour les mains Extra Pure Pamplemousse: I hated this hand cream since the first application. Yes, it smells of grapefruit like its name promises, but it's a rotten grapefruit!!! The product is quite runny, but it needs a bit of time before absorbing. Quite hydrating, but nothing exceptional. Moreover, I paid it a crazy amount of money (I think 13€!). I would never buy it again!
Shaka SOS Purifying Mask: I like this mask a lot, in fact I listed it in my favourite products of 2014; I still have a ton of masks to finish, but I think I will repurchase it soon!
Montagne Jeunesse Passion peel off mask: ooooh, finally I found the perfect mask from Montagne Jeunesse! At least for my needs, of course. It's really purifying and gives a super matte effect to my skin. Moreover, it has an amazing smell of pomegranate. I'd recommend it to ladies with combination or oily skin, on the contrary I won't recommend it to ladies with very sensitive or dry skin because the mattifying effect is very strong and it dries a bit the skin. I will repurchase it for sure;
Samples: Bjobj Anti-age face cream with hyaluronic acid - I had a good impression about this mask, it's very liquid and easy and fast to absorb, but the smell is horrible! It has a sort of hydrocarbons smell, which is quite odd and ironic because Bjobj is an organic brand. Then, Dr. Taffi Acqua di Bolgheri Oro/Gold: I really like this perfume, feminine but fresh, with a good longevity on the skin. Last product: Alkemilla Shadow, another perfume - I didn't like it, smell is too sweet for my tastes, luckily (for me!) it isn't persistent on my skin.

Giorno di discontinued day, e quindi giorno di... Rossetto! Direttamente dalla TE di Essence Good Girl, Bad Girl ecco a voi un violone vampy che più vampy non si può, ovvero It wasn't me!
It wasn't me! è di un bel viola molto scuro, tanto da apparire praticamente nero nel tubetto; è molto idratante e si stende molto facilmente, anche se un pizzico di attenzione è d'obbligo per ottenere un colore omogeneo su tutte le labbra. Il finish finale è piuttosto lucido e per certi versi mi ricorda i Lustre di MAC.
Pur non tendendo a sbordare oltre la delimitazione delle labbra, va leggermente nelle pieghette, ma niente di particolarmente evidente, per fortuna. Infine, la durata è un po' così così, non va assolutamente oltre le 2-3 ore.
Tutto sommato, reputo questo rossetto un prodotto assolutamente azzeccatissimo. Non è impeccabile né perfetto sono ogni punto di vista, ma la qualità è davvero più che discreta, e per soli 2.89€ poi!

First Monday of the month, and this means... Discontinued Day! And, as usual, I'm going to show you a lipstick. For this month I picked It wasn't me!, from a recent TE by Essence, that's Good Girl, Bad Girl.
This TE contained two lipsticks, a bright pink and a very dark purple, and I was lucky enough to find the dark purple, which as I wrote here above is called It wasn't me!
It wasn't me! is so dark that it looks almost black in the stick, but on the lips it's a beautiful blackberry purple. Its texture is creamy and hydrating, so it's soft and easy to apply, and it's very pigmented too but of course we are talking about a very dark colour, so you have to pay a bit of attention during application if you want an even result. Like most of dark lipsticks, it goes into the creases a little bit, but luckily this little flaw isn't much visible. Longevity is not particulary high, it lasts 2 or 3 hours on my lips, but if we consider the global quality of this lipstick and its price (2.89€ only), I would say that this is another epic win for Essence!

Post veloce per mostrarvi l'OPI Suzi and the 7 Düsseldorfs, già visto in questa mezza ciofeca di nail art natalizia.
Suzi and the 7 Düsseldorfs, direttamente dalla collezione Germany (ma va?) del 2012, è un bel viola vivo dal finish shimmer. Colore difficile da catturare, anche perché cambia abbastanza a seconda delle condizioni di luce. Due mani facili facili per la perfetta coprenza, asciugatura abbastanza rapida e ottima durata.
What else? Ah, l'ho pagato davvero poco approfittando dei saldi di Sephora, che a me deludono sempre (sono veramente deprimenti nel punto vendita di Parma), ma ogni tanto qualche colpo basso riesco a piazzarlo!

A quick post just to show you Suzi and the 7 Düsseldorfs by OPI, that you have probably seen in this sort of Christmas nail art I did a few weeks ago.
Suzi and the 7 Düsseldorfs belongs to Germany Collection for Fall 2012 and is a very nice and bright purple with a subtle shimmer. This colour is difficult to capture, also because it changes depending on the light conditions. Two easy coats for the perfect coverage, it dries quite fast and has a very good longevity.
What else? I bought it during Sephora's sales, so I paid only a few euros for it (consider that OPI nail polishes retail for 14€ here in Italy). Yay!!!!

Buonasera a tutte un cacchio.
No, oggi non ci siamo proprio con l'umore. L'ondata di neve è arrivata violentissima qui a Parma, trovando un'organizzazione che non è degna di essere definita tale, portando con sé disagi e pericoli mostruosi. Non è stata una bella esperienza, e non è ancora finita!
Ma forse non è la sede adatta per questi discorsi. Per fortuna il finish di oggi, il foil, è tra i miei preferiti in assoluto e sicuramente sarà in grado di regalarmi un bel sorriso.
Il finish foil si caratterizza per essere una grandissima figata. Eh? Che dite?!? Non è affatto la definizione enciclopedica che la Finishpedia merita? Ok, ci riprovo allora.
Gli smalti foil hanno una base metalizzata arricchita da glitter ultrafini e dalla dimensione irregolare. Il risultato finale è uno smalto luminoso, particolarissimo e liscio al tatto.
Esempio perfetto di foil è lo Zoya Rikki, che purtroppo non ho potuto fotografare con la luce solare. Ma anche senza, è qualcosa di eccezionale!
Rikki è un verde pazzesco con particelle di glitter "macinato" oro, coprente in due passate facilissime e che asciugano in fretta. La durata è leggermente minore della media degli Zoya, ma è comunque di almeno quattro giorni. Di certo è uno dei miei pezzi preferiti nonché probabilmente il più bel foil in mio possesso.
Et voilà! Il post è finito e anche un po' del mio malumore se n'è andato. Con voi ci sentiamo presto!

This is not a good day for me. It's been snowing since yesterday and the situation is really critical in my city. Actually there are about 60-70 cms of snow on the ground and the so-called "Snow plan" organized by the Municipality is simply ridiculous. We're experienced many inconveniences and dangers and I'm really pissed off.
But I don't think this is the good place to talk about these matters, so let's talk about the post of the day, which is the fourth appointment with our Finishpedia!
Today's finish is foil, one of my favourites! Foils have a metallic base enriched with ultra fine glitters with different shaped. The final result is a super sparkly shade which is also smooth to the touch.
A perfect example of foil is Zoya Rikki. Unfortunately I couldn't take pics of Rikki in direct sunlight, but it's still super beautiful even in overcast conditions!
Zoya Rikki has a green base enriched with gold ultra fine (almost "minced") glitter particles. It's opaque in two easy coats and dries fast. It lasted on my nails a bit less than other Zoyas, but we're talking about a longevity of four days at least.
Et voilà! This was my pick for foil finish. Hope you'll like it!

Signore e signorine, buona domenica sera!
Post di poche pretese per mostrarvi uno smalto di un brand che ho "trascurato" negli ultimi tempi, ma che mi piace molto, ovvero Kleancolor.
Questo brand americano costa pochissimo (specie se preso "alla fonte") ma ha delle vere e proprie perle. E anche lo smalto del giorno, Metallic Sapphire, è una di queste!
Il Kleancolor Metallic Sapphire è uno splendido blu scuro shimmer coprente in una sola passata e perfetto anche per lo stamping. Non indulgete nell'istinto della nail blogger che tende a mettere sempre una seconda mano di smalto "tanto per star serene", perché i tempi di asciugatura si allungano di parecchio.
Altre note tecniche: formula impeccabile, si stende molto facilmente, e ha anche un'ottima durata.
Considerato che questo bambino l'ho pagato poco più di 2€, spese di spedizione comprese, non posso che giubilare!
E anche per oggi è tutto, vado a fare le pappe!

Hope you spent a super nice week-end! Mine was very lazy, outside there's a lot of snow, poor street conditions and it's super cold, so we decided to stay at home.
Anyway, today I'm going to show a nail polish by Kleancolor, a cheap US brand that I really like a lot. I think it created beautiful shades and the nail polish of the day isn't an exception!
Kleancolor Metallic Sapphire is a beautiful deep blue with a shimmer finish. It is opaque in only one coat (in fact it's perfect for stamping!) but I decided to apply two coats on my left hand only for swatching purposes... Wrong move! Drying time was quite slow because of that second, additional coat.
Metallic Sapphire has a very good formula, it's super easy to apply, and it has an excellent longevity too. Considering that I paid around 2.30€ for this lacquer, shipping costs included, I couldn't expect more!

Negli ultimi tempi la mia voglia di smalti textured, che si era parzialmente sopita, ha deciso di risvegliarsi famelica. Per fortuna ho un bel bacino di prodotti cui attingere senza indulgere in ulteriori acquisti.
Quando si parla di smalti materici, un'ottima alternativa la troviamo in un brand di casa nostra, Wjcon. Tra i tanti in mio possesso, la scorsa settimana ho deciso di optare per il #804.
Il Wjcon #804 ha base nera con una tonnellata di glitter verdi/ottanio. In boccetta si coglie un bell'effetto duochrome tendente al viola di questi glitter, ma purtroppo una volta steso su unghia questa sfumatura va a perdersi quasi completamente. In ogni caso, si tratta di uno smalto splendido e che rende molto più dal vivo, tanto per cambiare, dato che i glitter si illuminano letteralmente alla luce solare o artificiale.
Coprente in due passate facili facili, tempi di asciugatura rapida e durata in perfetta media inglese dei textured (quattro giorni).

In these last weeks my textured addiction has awakened and I would wear nail polishes with a sand finish every single day. Luckily I have a lot of textured lacquers in my stash and I'm spoiled for choice!
The Italian (and cheap) brand Wjcon offers a nice range of sand shades and I have a lot of them, so I decided to pick #804.
Wjcon #804 has a black base with a ton of green/teal glitter particles. In the bottle it shows a super nice duochrome effect, it seems that the glitters shift from green to purple, but this effect doesn't transfer on the nails, or to better say, it transfers only a tiny bit. Anyway, it's a beautiful nail polish that, as usual, looks better in real life than in the pictures, because glitters are super sparkly!
Wjcon #804 is opaque in two, super easy coats (formula is really excellent), it dries fast and lasts about 4 days (at least on my nails).
Wjcon is, in my opinion, a very promising brand, I've tried several products and they're cheap and have a very good quality. The only flaw is their poor customer service and their website: they rarely reply to questions and the website has a lot of problem, quite often.

Ed eccoci giunte al fine settimana (sia lodato Odino!) e al nostro sesto appuntamento con la Finishpedia. Stavolta facciamo le pulci al finish chrome!
A me piace pensare al chrome come uno scontro tra uno smalto creme e del mercurio liquido. Licenze poetiche a parte, il chrome, anche conosciuto come mirror, dà alle unghie un aspetto estremamente metallico, ma senza mostrare shimmer o alcun altro fronzolo. Inoltre, è un finish magico! Vi farà scoprire le magagne della superficie delle vostre unghie che voi stesse non conoscevate. Ogni microdifetto sarà evidenziato ed enfatizzato.
In genere è complicato da stendere, motivo per cui io opto sempre per una base gommosa o acquosa. La regola non scritta dei cromati è che sono molto pigmentati e perfetti per lo stamping.
Ed è in questa funzionalità che io li preferisco, onestamente stesi su tutta l'unghia non mi fanno impazzire (con la dovuta eccezione dello Stargazer #232), anzi diciamo pure che li detesto cordialmente.
Per rappresentare i cromati ho scelto il Kiko #623 Blu, che ne rispecchia appieno ogni aspetto: impegnativo da stendere, one coater, asciuga alla velocità della luce.
E il vostro rapporto coi chrome com'è?

Thanks Odin it's Friday (I know, I say this quite often in these last months, but I'm having hard times at work) and here we are with our sixth appointment with Finishpedia. The protagonist of the day is... Chrome!
I like to say that chromes are the result of a fight between a creme nail polish and liquid mercury.
Poetic licence aside, chromes, also known as mirrors, give to your nail the aspect of metals. Chrome finish doesn't show any fine shimmers or any other frills. Moreover, it's a magic finish! It will show you a lot of flaws of the surface of your nails you didn't even know you have!
In general, chromes are difficult to apply, in fact I always use a rubberized or aqua base coat under them. They are usually extremely pigmented, dry fast and are perfect for stamping.
I prefer to use chromes for stamping and nail arts, I don't like them if used for a full manicure (except for the wonderful Stargazer #232).
To represent this finish I picked a nail polish by a limited edition by Kiko, that's #623 Blu (Blue): it's a bit difficult to apply and work with, it's a one coater and it dries fast.

So che in un giorno di festa non è il massimo buttarla in cagnara, ma purtroppo l'allineamento dei pianeti mi ha portata a dover recensire proprio oggi uno smalto che mi ha lasciata molto perplessa.
Sto parlando dell'OPI Sahara Sapphire, originariamente appartenente alla collezione The Painted Desert del 1998, ma proposto come repromote nella Colorcopia del 2009.
In primis, questo smalto non è zaffiro come il nome suggerisce, ma viola. La seconda grande questione riguarda il suo finish: esistono due fazioni, quella che lo vede come un metallico e quella che lo definisce cromato. Io lo vedo cromato: ha un effetto specchio e non vedo affatto lo shimmer fino tipico dei metallici (se vi sembra di scorgere qualche particella nella seconda foto, è solo una questione di giochi di luce, IRL non ve ne sono). Forse si sono fregati il microshimmer in dogana????
Comunque, Sahara Sapphire è molto pigmentato, praticamente un one coater, e mostra mostruosi segni di pennello una volta steso. Questi, però, vanno ad affievolirsi mano a mano che lo smalto asciuga, per scomparire quasi del tutto dopo aver passato un top coat. Asciuga in fretta e ha una buona durata.
Come tutti i cromati, non mi fa proprio impazzire, ma per lo stamping è favoloso. Lo considero quasi un errore, ogni volta che lo vedo ho il rimorso del compratore, ma è appartenente al mio primo ordine dagli US di moooolti anni fa e all'epoca la consapevolezza da smaltara vissuta mi mancava!
E anche per oggi è tutto, vado a fare un po' la casalinga isterica dato che ieri ho ciurlato un po' troppo nel manico!

Today I'm going to show you a controversial nail polish. I'm talking about OPI Sahara Sapphire, which were originally released in 1998 with The Painted Desert Collection, but was repromote in 2009 with Colorcopia Collection.
Firstly, Sahara Sapphire is not sapphire. It's a pale purple. The second, big controversy about this nail polish is its finish: the majority of nail bloggers described it as a metallic, the minority as a chrome.
I belong to this second "team": I can't see in Sahara Sapphire any microshimmers, but I do see a mirror base. I noticed that, in the second photo you see in this post, it seems that it has some shimmer particles, but I think it's a matter of light reflections because these aren't visible in real life.
Anyway, OPI Sahara Sapphire is really pigmented, it's a one coater, and it shows horrible brushstrokes once applied. Luckily these brushstrokes almost disappear once the nail polish is dried and a top coat is applied.
Moreover, it dries fast and has a good longevity.
To be completely honest, I'm not a huge fan of this nail polish, it belongs to my very first order from the US (that I did maaaaany years ago) so it is one of my first nail polish ever, and of course at that time I didn't have that "awareness" I actually have. But of course I love it for stamping purposes!!!!
And that's all I have for you today, I have to transform myself in a desperate housewife now, my house is a complete mess and I still have to cook the Valentine's cake I promised to my husband! I'm the worst wife ever!

Torno di nuovo in casa Kiko per mostrarvi uno smalto preso relativamente di recente durante un periodo di forti sconti, ovvero il #392 Verde Giungla.
Kiko #392 Verde Giungla, come il nome promette, è un verde foresta davvero scuro con una vena quasi impercettibile di microshimmer tono su tono. Ha una pigmentazione pazzesca, tanto che nelle mie foto potete vedere il risultato di una sola mano un po' generosa. Mi è decisamente piaciuta la formula, liquida ma non troppo - ovviamente se non siete particolarmente allenate vi consiglio di optare per due mani sottili per gestire meglio il fluire baldanzoso del prodotto verso le vostre cuticole. Asciuga rapidamente e con un aspetto piuttosto luminoso.
Che dire? M'è piaciuto moltissimo, anche perché si abbina perfettamente agli stivali da alluvionata che sto indossando in questi giorni in cui sono stata costretta a camminare in mezzo a distese di neve.
E anche per oggi è tutto, corro a muovere il sederino (il diminutivo è quanto mai ironico in questo caso) verso una nuova sessione di zumba!

Here I am again with another nail polish by the Italian brand Kiko, that's #392 Verde Giungla (Jungle Green). This nail polish was released in 2012 but I bought it only recently during a super sale - in fact I paid 1€ only for this beauty!
Kiko #392 Jungle Green, as its name suggests, is a very dark forest green with a very subtle micro shimmer. It has an amazing pigmentation, in my pics you can see how it looks after one generous but single coat. I like its formula too, it's not too runny nor thick - but of course, if you decide to apply one heavy coat instead of two thin coats you have to pay extra attention during application!
It dries fast and with a glossy aspect.
What else? I really like it, moreover it's the exact color of the horrible but super practical boots I'm wearing in these days - there' still a lot of snow here, so I need to wear gumboots which aren't that nice!

In questi mesi ho parlato tante volte del rossetto M.A.C. Red, ma non avevo mai scritto una review approfondita. Bizzarro, dato che si tratta probabilmente del mio rossetto preferito di sempre.
In primis, vi ripropongo l'interrogativo: ma visto che il nome in sé è M.A.C. Red, se volessi indicare nome e marca insieme dovrei parlare di MAC M.A.C. Red? Misteri da Adam Kadmon!
Comunque, M.A.C. Red è un fantasmagorico rosso con un tocco di magenta dal finish satinato e sottotono blu. Pigmentatissimo, si stende agevolmente e mantiene le labbra molto idratate.
Nulla da eccepire neppure sulla notevole durata (5-6 ore su di me).
Non so voi, ma io lo trovo pazzesco, adatto ad ogni occasione od ora della giornata, elegante ma con quel tocco sbarazzino.

In these past months I have often talked about M.A.C. Red, but I had never written a real review about it. This is quite odd, because M.A.C. Red is probably my favourite lipstick ever!
Well, first-of-all, I have a question for you: since the name of the shade is M.A.C. Red and the brand is (of course!) MAC, should I name it MAC M.A.C. Red???
Anyway, this lipstick is a fabulous red with a touch of magenta. It has a satin finish and a cool undertone. Pigmentation is amazing, it is easy and pleasant to apply and work with and it really moisturizes my lips. Nothing to complain about its longevity, which is of about 5 or 6 hours on me.
M.A.C. Red is rarely known or reviewed (at least in Italian blogs), but I think that it's an amazing shade, very elegant but bright. I wear it in a lot of different situations and context and I always get a lot of compliments.

Come di consueto, sono fuori di me dalla gioia al pensiero che un altro week-end sia arrivato! Ho tanta voglia di leggerezza e un nuovo post della Finishpedia è proprio quello che serve. Arrivate al settimo appuntamento il gioco si fa duro col duo/multichrome.
Uno smalto si dice duochrome qualora, magicamente, mostri due colori diversi sull'unghia, con prevalenza dell'uno o dell'altro a seconda delle condizioni di luce e delle inclinazioni con cui la stessa colpisce i nostri artigli. Se lo smalto è così camaleontico da mostrare più di due colori, si definisce multichrome.
Tecnicamente il duo/multichrome non è proprio un finish, ma un effetto. I duo/multichrome hanno finish diversi: possono essere metallici o shimmer o ancora frost, e persino holo glitter. La pigmentazione è variabile: seppur raramente, possono essere coprenti in una passata o due molto sottili. Più spesso sono abbastanza sheer e da qui nasce l'importanza della mutanda!
Dicesi mutanda di un colore di base, normalmente scuro, a cui layerizzare un duo/multichrome per enfatizzare un colore rispetto ad un altro. Potenzialmente, dunque, uno smalto duo/multichrome può assumere sfumature diverse solo cambiando la mutanda di base.
Per rappresentarlo ho optato per il Dance Legend Boo, dal finish leggermente shimmer ed effetto multichrome che varia dal rosso all'arancio ad un leggero tocco di oro verdastro. Nelle mie numerose foto vedete due mani sopra al Kiko #392 Verde Giungla. Non è meraviglioso? Sembra un tripudio di autunno!
E anche per oggi è tutto, scappo a vedere cos'hanno combinato le mie amicicie, mai come oggi sono curiosissima!

As usually, I'm super happy that it's Friday again! I need to think and talk about frivolousness and the seventh appointment with our Finishpedia is a perfect occasion.
Today we are going to show you duo/multichromes; this kind of nail polish shows, on the nails, two different shades (duochromes) or even more (multichromes), depending on how the light hits them.
Technically, duo/multichrome is not a finish. It's an effect instead. Duo/multichromes can show different finishes: shimmer, frost, metallic or even holo glitter.
Pigmentation is quite variable: they can be one coater (quite rare) or very sheer. In this case, you absolutely have to use an underwear!
"Underwear" is a funny way to indicate a base colour, usually quite dark, that you can use under a duo/multichrome to emphasize all its reflects. If you use different underwears as a base for the same duo/multichrome nail polish, you can obtain different effects and shades.
The nail polish I picked for this appointment is Dance Legend Boo, an amazing multichrome with a very fine shimmer that can be red or orange or even gold/green. In my pics you can see how two thin coats of Boo look like Kiko #392 Verde Giungla. Isn't it wonderful? It has all the colours of Autumn!

Questa plate mi piace davvero tantissimo, negli ultimi tempi poi sono davvero in fissa con foglie di ogni foggia e forma oltre che con le farfalle e la sto usando davvero spesso, a scapito delle numerose plate che ho acquistato negli ultimi tempi approfittando di offerte varie.

A very quick post just to show you a nail stamping I recently created over the beautiful Dance Legend Boo. I used Born Pretty Store BP-19 stamping plate and a stamping black shimmer polish by Konad.
I really love this plate, in these last months I'm obsessed with leaves (and butterflies, of course) so I'm using it quite often. I'm neglecting all the other plates I bought a couple of months ago thanks to convenient sales, but what can I do? I'm in love!

Il lunedì, generalmente, è considerato come il peggior giorno della settimana. Mi sembra coerente, quindi, sceglierlo per mostrarvi il peggior smalto mai utilizzato! E ne ho utilizzati parecchi, voi che siete le mie fedeli ed adorate lettrici lo sapete.
Comunque, qualche tempo fa, in pieno ingrifamento da termici, ho avuto la possibilità di reperire su Ebay questo smalto no brand, completamente anonimo, ma termico. La preview mostrava un cambio di colore dal blu scuro al bianco. Ho pensato fosse la figata del secolo ed eccolo lì, a casa mia per due soldi.
E ora non so da dove iniziare per raccontarvi tutte le magagne incontrate. Vabbé, cominciamo dall'unico aspetto positivo: si stende piuttosto bene. Da qui, il degenero: innanzitutto è sheer da morire, nelle mie foto potete vedere come appare 5, e dico cinque, mani abbondanti.
In secondo luogo il cambio colore non è blu-bianco, ma blu-trasparente. Ebbene sì, lo smalto diventa incolore in fase calda, ma non completamente: dati i numerosi strati assume una strana e leggera sfumatura giallo-verdestra. Urgh.
Quando ho applicato il top coat, poi, l'apocalisse: ha iniziato a raggrinzirsi, rattrappirsi e ritirarsi. E nonostante abbia usato il Sèche Vite, ci ha messo due vite e mezzo ad asciugare. Dopo meno di 48 ore, poi, ha iniziato a venir via in stile peel off. ARGH.
Peggio di così... Vorrei darvi più indicazioni per farvi stare alla larga da 'sto robo qua, in una sorta di beware of the schifezz, ma è uno smalto privo di marchio o altri riferimenti. Comunque ho notato che il venditore Ebay non ha più questo genere di prodotto, quindi escludo che qualcuna di voi possa incapparci.
Non ho altro da dire, vi lascio alle foto - volutamente non ritoccate, l'orrore va gustato appieno! - e lascio a voi ogni commento!

Monday is usually considered as the worst day of the week. So I thought it was appropriate to show you on Monday the worst nail polish I have ever tried. And if you're among my lovely, loyal readers, you know that I've tried a ton of different nail polishes.
A few months ago I was desperately in search of new thermal nail polishes, and I had the chance to buy from Ebay this completely anonymous and thermal lacquer. The preview showed a color shift from dark blue (cold) to white (hot). I thought this was too cool!
Well, I was wrong. This product has so much flaws that I don't know where to start. Well, let's start with the only pro: application is quite easy. Then... Firstly, it's sheer. Very sheer. For my pics I applied five (yes, five!) coats and nail line is still visible.
Secondly, the color shift is not blue-white, but blue-clear. Yes, the nail polish is clear in hot conditions, but not completely clear: it's a sort of dirty clear with a yellow-green stain. Ugh.
Then, I applied a top coat and the nail polish experienced a sort of extreme, odd shrinkage all over the nails. And even if I used Sèche Vite, it took HOURS to dry.
Moreover, less than 48 hours after, it began to peel-off.
I think that I can say that this is the worst nail polish ever. I would like to add a name of the brand or any other reference, but this nail polish is completely anonymous. But I checked on Ebay and this line is not sold anymore, so I'm pretty sure that you don't risk to buy this product.
I don't know what to say, you can see the pictures and it's up to you to judge the final result...

Ciao a tutte!
Non vi ho abbandonate, sono stata semplicemente impegnata e giù di corda fisicamente. Ma rieccomi qua a mostrarvi un acquisto recente, il bellissimo rossetto Drama di Shaka.
Me lo sono portata a casa approfittando della loro promo (attiva fino al 1 marzo) che consente di acquistare i prodotti col 30% di sconto stampando il coupon o presentando l'apposita immagine in cassa, mostrandola tramite smartphone. Fate attenzione perché, nonostante non sia previsto un limite di pezzi, solo un pezzo per scontrino viene scontato. Dunque, se volete darvi ad acquisti pazzi e fruire appieno dello sconto, dovrete richiedere scontrini separati (eeeeeeh!).
Comunque, lo Shaka Drama è un bellissimo borgogna (che si avvicini al famoso color of the year Marsala? Boh, io sono tremenda nel descrivere le sfumature del rosso e del viola) ben pigmentato e dal finish extra lucido. Davvero cremoso ed idratante, si stende facilmente ed è davvero confortevole da indossare. L'unico difetto sta nella longevità, che non è molto elevata: tende a sbiadire, per fortuna in modo piuttosto omogeneo, nel giro di 2-3 ore. Migliora un po' se utilizzo come base la Crema Labbra Riparatrice di Biofficina Toscana che, pur non essendo un vero e proprio primer, assolve abbastanza bene a questa funzione.
Che ne dite? A me piace tanto, e per 4€ posso perdonargli la durata non proprio eccelsa. E anche per oggi è tutto, ci vediamo domani con la Finishpedia!

Sorry for my absence of these last days, but I've been quite busy and I'm having my usual, "monthly" health issues (sob). Anyway, I'm back with a beautiful lipstick by an Italian brand, Shaka!
When I write reviews about Italian products I'm always in doubt, I don't know if the English version of the post is useful or not... But, anyway, here we are!!!
Shaka is a cheap brand you can find in a chain of stores called OVS, which is quite easy to find here in Italy. In these weeks they're doing a promo on their make-up products so I decided to buy three lipsticks for 4.19€ each.
The first lipstick I tried is called Drama, and it's a beautiful burgundy with a glossy finish (maybe is this the famous color of the year Marsala?!? I'm a disaster in describing shades of red and purple). It's very creamy and hydrating, easy to apply and comfortable to wear. Its only flaw is longevity, it lasts 2-3 hours only on my lips.
But it's so beautiful that I decided to forgive it! What do you think about this Italian, cheap lipstick?

Riecchice qua con l'ottavo appuntamento con la Finishpedia, dedicato agli smalti jelly.
I jelly sono piuttosto semplici da individuare, sono smalti piuttosto sheer, dalla consistenza appunto jellosa, che asciugano solitamente lucidissimi e lasciano intravedere la linea dell'unghia anche dopo diverse passate.
Per rappresentare questo finish ho tirato fuori un favoloso smalto d'annata, il Misa Pour Me Something Tall and Strong dalla collezione Look on the Bright Side del 2008.
Misa Pour Me Something Tall and Strong è un favoloso blu Crayola jelloso con una certa vena di petrolio (ditemi che nella prima foto si vede questo suo lato oscuro, ci ho perso la testa dietro!). Nelle mie foto potete vedere come appare dopo 3 passate. Si stende benissimo e asciuga piuttosto rapidamente, il che è un'ottima notizia considerate le numerose mani che richiede. La durata è davvero eccellente.
Che ve ne pare? Vi piacciono i jelly? A me davvero un sacco, li trovo affascinanti nella loro semitrasparenza! E poi consentono di fare un tipo di nail art davvero interessante... Ma per approfondire questo argomento ci vediamo tra un paio di giorni!

Here we are with the eight appointment of our Finishpedia, which is dedicated to jelly.
Jelly nail polishes are quite easy to spot, they are quite sheer and look like jellies or gummies. They usually dry with a super glossy aspect and nail line is still visible even after several coats.
To represent jellies I picked an oldie but goodie, that's Misa Pour Me Something Tall and Strong from Look on the Bright Side Collection (2008).
Misa Pour Me Something Tall and Strong is a fabulous Crayola blue which has a sort of teal blue soul (please, tell me that you can see this particular aspect in the first pic, I almost became mad to capture this shade!). In my pics you can see how it looks after three coats. It's very easy to apply and work with and it dries quite fast, which is a very good news considering how many coats it requires. Longevity is really excellent.
What do you think? Do you like it? I really love it, and I think that jellies in general are beautiful. I created a particular kind of nail art with this Misa and I can't wait to show it to you!
